Shredding It Up

With the new year comes new goals and a new me or at least a slightly better me.

I like to have a few goals in all the different areas of my life. This month I have been focusing more on my physical goal which is to become a healthier me. I want to lose a few pounds, get stronger, and just feel full of energy.

Last year I began the year strong and then it just went down hill half way through the year. Losing weight and being healthy can be frustrating... really frustrating. Last year I lost about 10 pounds by the time we moved to Ogden. I gained half of that back over the summer then another 10 by the end of the year. I hate that now I am working on getting back to where I was before I lost those 10 pounds. It's just a never ending Roller Coaster, but I will keep trying.

So on Jan. 31st I did my 30 day Shred DVD by Jillian Michaels and little did I know that I would actually be doing the 30 day challenge. I found out that day that my friend Ashley decided to start doing the 30 day shred too, so we both decided to help each other out and really do this thing. We decided to text each other after we completed the workout, which motivated me to do it if I hadn't yet. There are 3 work outs on the DVD so I decided to do each workout for 10 days. I can proudly say that I am on workout #3 and I have only 6 days left! The DVD is only 20-25 minutes long, but it is a killer. I have also been trying to run a day or 2 a week as well as doing the DVD (those days are the worst). I can't say that I have lost a ton of weight, but I definitely feel stronger. After I finish this next week I'm still going to work out, but I think I will mix things up a little bit. I think by doing the challenge it has given me the motivation and will power that I need to keep going strong. Now I need to work on eating a little bit better.

The End of 2012

I have been super horrible at taking pictures lately. We have done a lot of fun things and sometimes I even have the camera with me, but just don't think about taking pictures. I guess in a way it means we are having too much fun to take pictures, but it's nice to have them to remember.

I am just going to continue from my last post starting with my birthday. I turned 25 this year! For awhile I didn't like the sound of 25, but it's growing on me and it feels pretty good. I'm still young, but not too young or too old. For my birthday we decided to go to Salt Lake for a little trip. Matt had enough rewards points to get us a free stay in the Hyatt Hotel right by Gateway. Matt told me I could pick a gift out while we walked around Gateway so I finally decided on a Larva Hex Bug. It's orange and it moves all cool and it has sensors so it won't run into things. It's pretty awesome! I love getting toys still. We also went out to a nice dinner and I got Lobster that was so so so delicious! The next day we tried to go to the Temple, but it closed early because it was the day before Thanksgiving. I was pretty bummed about it, but then we went to the Zoo! I had such a blast at the Zoo! It wasn't hot or too cold so we felt good and so did the animals. Everything was alive and moving and it was so fun to watch. The tigers were way cool and the baby elephant, snow leopard, and giraffe were super cute! I don't remember having a funner time at the zoo. I felt like a little kid I was so giddy. So all in all it was a pretty fantastic birthday!

We also had our 3 year Anniversary! We have done a lot these past 3 years and I hope we do even more in the next. We have gone on tons of trips, graduated from college, had a few different jobs, moved once, had ducks for pets, have a bunny now, and a whole lot more. We also continue to learn to love each other more and more each and every year! So I guess we will be overflowing with love by the time forever is over :) (totally cheesy I know). Our anniversary was a lot of fun this year, we got to go on another trip! My Dad has time shares so we were able to stay in a nice Park City hotel for free for 4 days. We had a fun and relaxing long weekend. We went swimming, we hot tubed, we ping ponged, we walked main street, ate yummy food, saw the Hobbit, read, and just plain relaxed. It was Fantastic! p.s. Our anniversary was on 12/12/12, which was pretty cool.

Then Christmas came along. I had a fun time decorating our very first real Christmas Tree and the rest of the house. I put up snow flakes and lights on our porch (back side of the house) which no one really saw, but I did so it was worth it. Flash really quite enjoyed the Christmas Tree. She would hide underneath it and eat the fallen pine needles. She also would try to eat the presents that we would put under the tree, so we had to relocate those. We had tons of family parties this year, basically with all sides of our families. It was fun to be able to spend time with both of our families. We also for the first time did our own Christmas morning, which was fun. We didn't have tons of presents for each other, but it was nice to do our own thing. We woke up early, opened our presents, made breakfast burritos, and then watched one of the movies we got. We did got some bigger gifts from our families, which have been a lot of fun! We got snow shoes and an indo board (a balancing board thing-pictures to come some day).

Flash with her traditional Christmas Apple.
She is so cute when she eats sweet things. She licks her lips like crazy!

To end the year of 2012 we ended up hanging out by ourselves. We were kind of lame, but it was kind of fun too. We got some pizza man pizza and then just watched a few shows/movies and then brought the new year in with some fireworks. The fireworks were pretty awesome! We shot a ton off in the air, but then Matt started shooting them through the snow and made little snow bombs. He loves fireworks! He becomes this cute little giddy child when he plays with them. :) 2012 was a great year!!! I am excited for 2013 though. My favorite number is 13, so maybe we will have a lucky year.

Last but not Least : Matt the Skier. I'm glad we have had a few snow storms so he could finally get some skiing in. He absolutely loves to ski and I don't mind the day to myself :). So don't feel bad for me when I say Matt's gone skiing.
