No, I'm not talking about me, although I suppose I am growing up...I just graduated...got married 5 months ago (today!)...and have 2 children! Okay, okay not real children, but ducks, which like children grow up, but much faster. We got Alfred and Splash over a month and half ago. They started out so small, small enough to fit in one hand. Small enough that you would let them run around on the carpet, because their poop was small too. Small enough that you let them sit on your shoulder. Now being 6-7 weeks old they live outside, poop outside, and definitely can't even fit upon my shoulder or let alone in both of my hands. Don't get me wrong they are still pretty cute and I still love them, but man how they have changed. They are practically full grown now, they don't have all their adult feathers, but they are the same size as adult ducks. One thing that hasn't change yet is their little duck chirps, which I quite enjoy. Alfred's head is turning slightly green, so we finally know he is a boy and we are pretty sure Splash is a girl. Oh, and they are mallards. We visited the Willow Park Zoo the other day and we figure it might be the best home for semi-domestic Ducks. They feed them and there is lots of water and lots of other duck friends, and if they learn to fly they can always go somewhere else. I guess we will see when the time comes. I feel like I'm going through the process of having children and sending them off to college, but in super speed mode. ha So here they are! You may want to look at them from the bottom to the top. Or you can watch them shrink, whatever works. (Just so you know the brown one is Splash, which I named because she loves loves the water and Alfred is Alfred, the other one, whom Matt named.)
Duck Tales!
i want to come visit them!! there HUGE! that flew time for college :) there godmother {aka me} needs to come see them! hope all is well happy 5 months! xoxo
ReplyDeletehow cute!!! sorry they are growing up... but then they'll have babies of their own, someday... when they find women... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, the little duckies are all grown up. That is crazy. I loved scanning the pictures and watching them grow. I'm glad we got to see them and feed them and hold them. Before you know it you two will be "empty nesters", ha pun intended. :)
