the Great Basin and Shooting Stars

This was the last trip of our summer before we went back to work and school. We decided to head to the middle of nowhere to see the the meteor shower!  So we decided to go to Great Basin National Park. The first night as it got dark we pulled off the highway and set up camp. We really were in the middle of nowhere. We saw a ton of shooting stars that night. I wish our camera could have captured the stars, but I guess you will have to go see them for yourselves next year.

Then we made it to Great Basin. It was surprisingly green there. We set up camp and went on a hike to see the super old bristlecone pine trees.

We star gazed again that night and saw another whole bunch of shooting stars. I would say we saw about 100 or so each night. The next day we went to see the Lyman Caves.

We then started our way back. We decided to take a random dirt road and see what we could find. We didn't find much, but we did do a little hiking and exploring. We were trying to waste time because we wanted to camp one more night in the middle of nowhere again.

We found our NOWHERE. WE camped on this white sand/dirt that was on the way out to a lake that really wasn't much of a lake. We never did make it to the lake.

We ended the trip with another round of the meteor shower! AMAZING!
and started the morning with this Beautiful Sun Rise!
And last, but not least we found this random tree on the side of the road with shoes all over it? Weird.
