March Madness

March 2016

Autumn started having trouble breathing the morning of Feb. 28th. We ended up taking her to the ER that afternoon. They suctioned her, did 2 breathing treatments, and gave her a steroid. She started doing a little better, but was still working really hard to breath. They decided to admit her to the hospital to keep an eye on her. Her oxygen levels were a bit low so they gave her oxygen at night. She was doing so much better by Tuesday morning. She took a good nap without any need of oxygen so they let us come home that afternoon. We found out that she had 3 different viral infections at the same time. They just all hit her at once making it difficult to breathe. I am so happy that everything turned out fine and we only had to stay in the hospital for a short time. I think this was our first real scare as parents since the day she was born. It was really rough on my heart to see her suffering and not be able to make it better, but I am thankful the doctors and nurses that were able to do what I could not.

Autumn turned 18 Months old while were at the hospital - March 1st.
They had a fun wagon that we could pull her around in when she got restless.
After we went home she recovered quite quickly.
She had a yucky cough for about a week, but she continued to breathe well.

She started acting like her normal self just a day later. She was being silly and wearing her swim bottoms on her head and dancing all around. :)

Here's a few pictures I took of Autumn throughout the month.

Happy St. Patty's Day and Pig Tails!

We also enjoyed actual March Madness. We filled out our brackets and had fun rooting for the teams we chose and for all underdogs to win. We filled out a bracket for Autumn too by flipping a coin. She had Weber State winning it all - that would have been awesome!

No more thumb + some

February 2016

One cool feature about our house is that Matt can ski down from our yard into our neighbors yard (which is a big hill). He made a couple jumps so he could get a little air as he went down. He would ski down and the neighbor boy or I would pick him up at the bottom of the hill. He went out one night with our neighbor and when he came back... well something was wrong. He had skied off one of his jumps and when he landed his ski pole (he has the old wrap around poles) hit a icy patch and jammed back into his thumb. He thought he had dislocated his thumb and had our neighbor pull real hard on it to get it back into place...that sure didn't help. They took him to the ER and got x-rays and found he had broke a bone in his thumb in two places. It broke kind of like a T. They wrapped it up, gave him some pain killers, and told him to see a hand Doctor soon. We went the next day and they said it looked like things were in the right places and he probably wouldn't need surgery. We went in the following week to do some more x-rays and found out things had moved quite a bit. They set up surgery for the next day. The surgery went well and he now has 2 giant pins in his thumb. I would say they are more like nails skewering his thumb rather than pins. (He finally got the pins taken out on April 14th! It will still be a few more weeks before he can start moving it, but we are getting there.)

Matt has been such a good patient - he never complains. He has been really positive about everything. He has gotten pretty good at using his left hand too - to write on the board at work, playing basketball, and doing just about everything he needs to do. I feel bad that this happened to him, but we both have been thankful it was just his thumb and nothing bigger - like a knee. I am also so grateful we have good insurance and a health savings account from Matt's job.
 ER visits are expensive!
Pretty gross huh?!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Helping Dad grade some papers. :)
Playing with our Bubble Machine in the Kitchen.

I started watching two little boys twice a week. Autumn has a lot of fun playing with them and it's been nice to make a few extra bucks. One of the boys is a 3-4 months older than her and the other is 3 1/2 years old. They all play pretty well together, for the most part. :)

I like BLUE dum-dums!
Autumn did her own hair. Pretty girl!
I just love her in snow clothes, especially her hat.
We saw an elk in our front yard. It's almost as big as the horse.
To compare here is a deer.

The New Year

January 2016
We had our friends over to celebrate the new year.
We ate great food, played solar quest, went sledding, and played with fire works.

I probably let Autumn eat way too much snow, but oh well. I like to eat snow too.

 Bubble Baths are the BEST!

Sometimes she likes to take little bites from each of her crackers, before she eats them all.
Silly Girl!
I can't think of much else we did in January besides play out in the snow and then hang out in our warm house. Our pellet stoves are pretty awesome, especially when you come in from the cold and you see a billowing fire. It makes our house so cozy.

p.s. My parent's had their 40th year anniversary on Jan. 22nd!
I am so grateful for their example of a marriage full of love and hard work.

The last bits of 2015

Matt and I had our 6th year anniversary!
I can't believe it's been that long and I can't imagine my life without him by my side.
I'm excited to see what another year brings - I'm sure more fun and adventures.
For our anniversary we ended up spending a family day in Logan. We went out to lunch at Center Street Grill. We went bowling, which we hadn't done for a long time and we got ice cream! We had a nice day together and with Autumn.

 Autumn the Artist.
She was painting a Christmas gift for her grandparents.

She loves her pets. I'm so glad she is a animal girl.
She might help me convince her Dad that we need a dog one day. :)

I love watching this girl sleep. So peaceful!
 She is too cute!
I love taking pictures of her even when she won't stay still for very long.

We took our own family pictures this year in our backyard.
We set up our camera on the blue truck and put it on timer.
I really like our nice camera so we don't have to spend money on getting our family photos.
I think we will try again when it's warmer so we can get a few more good ones.
